Ash Geary is a life coach who helps people rebuilding after heartbreak at midlife find the love that was never missing, through a method called The Unblocked Heart. That's the formal sentence. Here's the human one: I failed at love for decades, survived what the failing cost, and found something on the other side worth teaching.
I grew up learning fear and shame early, and I answered them with anger. My teens and twenties ran on that anger: taking what I wanted, proving I could withstand anything, daring life to hurt me. It did. I put the wildest years behind me, cleaned up my body, moved cities, did everything the self-improvement books said. And I was still unhappy. There was a season I was afraid to leave my own apartment. That taught me the first hard lesson: you can remove the wreckage from your life and still not have touched the blocks underneath it.
I built a career, moved to Japan, kept succeeding on paper. Then came the year everything turned: my father died, and a virus put me in bed for six weeks wondering, some nights, if I'd wake up. When I did, I sat by a lake and made myself the first honest promise of my life. I would be happy. I couldn't have told you what made me happy. But I knew exactly what didn't, and I started removing it. Piece by piece, I took apart the life I had tolerated.
I used to think I was strong because I could endure unhappiness. The strongest thing I ever did was walking away from what caused it.
Life kept teaching. Cancer took a piece of my face and taught me surrender. And then, when I had finally stopped hunting for it, love found me: the real thing, the kind everyone is chasing. Losing it was the most painful thing that ever happened to me, and it is also where I found what I'd been looking for my whole life. Not in the person. Underneath everything. A source of love that doesn't leave when someone does.
That's what I coach now, and it's what my book is about: even when you don't get what you want, you can still have peace, joy, love, and happiness.
Honestly, and with clear boundaries. I'm not a therapist and I don't pretend to be; coaching with me works on growth, patterns, and readiness, and when someone needs licensed care I say so and point them to it. I don't sell outcomes I can't promise. I won't promise you a partner. I'll promise you the work that makes love possible, with or without one.
The method I teach, The Unblocked Heart, is built on something old: a century-old teaching about the eight things that close a human heart, which I met on my own path and modernized through the expensive process of living every one of them. You can read how it works here.
No certification wall. What I have instead: a life that failed thoroughly enough to learn from, a method built from what actually worked, decades of being the person friends call at 2 a.m., and the discipline to know exactly where coaching ends and clinical care begins. If credentials matter to you more than that, I understand, and I'm probably not your coach.
